Fabrication Of An Automatic Pneumatic Punching And Riveting Machine

ABSTRACT

The pneumatic press tool has an advantage of working in low pressure, that is even a pressure of 6 bar is enough for operating the unit. The pressurized air passing through the tubes to the cylinder, forces the piston out whose power through the linkage is transmitted to the punch. The work piece thus got is for required dimensions and the piece can be collected through the land clearance provided in the die. The die used in this is fixed such that the die of required shape can be used according to the requirement. This enables us to use different type punch dies resulting in a wide range of products. Different types of punch as requirement can be thus got. According to the work material the operating pressure can be varied

Here we are using Pneumatic is act as punching/riveting equipment. When control unit detect the low pulse from the tool and ON the pneumatic for Punch (or) rivet. After a second the controller will OFF the pneumatic. After getting the punch or revit from the pneumatic the punching tool feed is moved to longitudinal & latidudinal motion. This Process will go repeatedly when another object. This feed is 1mm/min for speed revolution for tool movement.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

1.1                                           BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The press is the punching and riveting machine tool designed to punch letter or rivet metal by applying mechanical force or pressure. The metal is punched or riveted to the desired requirement. The presses are exclusively intended for mass production and they represent the fastest and more efficient way to form a metal into a finished punched or riveted product.

Press tools are used to form and cut thin metals. Press tools operation can be simplified to a few simple operations involving a punch a die. There are Nemours types of presses in engineering field, which are used to fulfill the requirements. We are interested to introduce pneumatic system in presses. The main function of pneumatic press is to form or cut thin sheet metals or nonmetals using pneumatic power. In this project we have used to punching process and riveting process for simple application.

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

Using hand operated punching and riveting machine has many disadvantages, like hand punching has low accuracy, low work speed, exposed to much accident and high cost..

Automatic pneumatic punching or riveting machine give high accuracy with before time completion and second most important, it is not dangerous and second does not worried about slot of jobs.

1.3                                                   AIM AND OBJECTIVES

The main aim of this project study is to design and fabricate a simple punching or riveting machine tool that used pneumatic system. The objectives are:

  1. To design mechanical system of a punching
  2. To fabricate a pneumatic punching tool machine through several fabrication
  • To fabricate an automatic machine that will make punching or riveting easy.

1.4                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

This project will focus on build of low lost punching or riveting machine tool with using a pneumatic system. It is because, in the real industry, most company needs to buy a hydraulic machine whether they only need a small force to punch. Whether hydraulic machine can used for low or high force, high cost of machine and maintenance are needed. Therefore, this pneumatic punch also can help small company to use semi auto puncher than using manual puncher. Pneumatic punching or riveting machine machine give us high accuracy with before time completion and second most important, it is not dangerous.

1.5                                                  PROJECT MOTIVATION

The pneumatic system has gained a large amount of importance in last few decades. This importance is due to its accuracy and cost. This convenience in operating the pneumatic system has made us to design and fabricate this unit as our project. This unit, as we hope that it can be operated easily with semi skilled operators.

1.6                                          ADVANTAGES OF THE PROJECT

  • Low cost
  • Save the Man Power
  • Save the time

1.7                              DISADVANTAGE OF THE PROJECT

Need separate compressor.

1.8                  APPLICATIONS OF THE PROJECT

  • We can implement to fix the label in object
  • Put the holes or shape the objects
  • Used in the product packing
