This study aimed to investigate the impact of teacher-students relationships on the academic achievement of biology students in Enugu South Local Government. The literature was reviewed under several subheadings: the role of teachers, enhancing academic achievement, factors influencing teacher-pupil relationships, consequences of poor relationships on academic performance, and a summary of related literature. The research was conducted across nine secondary schools in Enugu South Local Government, with a random selection of five schools for the study. Six research questions guided the inquiry, and questionnaire items corresponding to these questions served as the primary data collection tool.
Data analysis involved using frequency tables and percentages. The findings revealed that biology teachers frequently praised students in their classes, engaged them in friendly conversations during leisure time, disciplined them when necessary, allowed them some degree of freedom, facilitated open communication, and that the quality of these relationships significantly impacted student performance in biology.
Based on these results, it is recommended that the government allocate sufficient educational resources and equipment to schools and ensure that biology teachers meet the minimum qualification standards, such as possessing Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)
