ABSTRACT
LED light box is an illuminating device which is useful for drawing people’s attention to an advertisement or store promotion. Static use of LED light boxes create a clearer and more visually appealing advertisement display, both in-store and outside. This work is on creation of a solar LED light box. The solar powered lighting system for advertising light box offers a revolutionary concept for the outdoor advertising. It includes high efficiency solar panels, rechargeable batteries, LED light modules, and lighting controller. The main aim of this work is to solve the power supply challenge seen in conventional LED light box.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 background of the study
This light box is a translucent surface illuminated from behind, used for situations where a shape laid upon the surface needs to be seen with high contrast.
This work is a 24″ x 36″ LED based Light Box which is a frame-style box that uses innovative LED technology to provide bright, white illumination to a backlit graphic. The Light Box features light-weight aluminum construction with a black finish and a “snap-open” clip that makes changing the graphics easy (Tony, 2015). Display the LED Light Box on a wall, from the ceiling or attach to a banner stand.
Using light box is another way of advertising effectively. Market research has shown that illuminated advertising attracts a much higher customer footfall, enables quicker customer processing and offers a significant increase sales compared to non-illuminated advertising (Tony, 2015).
Banks that had a financial product they wished to promote utilize double-sided light boxes in some of their branch windows to illuminate the promotional poster and non-illuminated poster frames in the others. Their market research highlighted that the banks with backlit illuminated poster displays had an increase of over 30% sales of the advertised product in comparison to banks with exactly the same advert but displaying non-illuminated posters (Tony, 2015).
However, building a light box with a solar energy is an advance way of creating this device. The solar powered light box offers a revolutionary concept for the outdoor advertising. It includes high efficiency solar panels, rechargeable batteries, LED light modules, and lighting controller. The conversion from the on-grid AC to off-grid solar DC power will reduce potential electrical hazards from lethal to harmless. It essentially combines the features of a regular advertising media light box and a solar energy input to create a cost-effective, safe and “green” solution.
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Conventional light box suffers challenges light power interruption, installing physical electric cable, contribute to high payment of monthly electricity bills and also exposes the user to potential electrical hazards. The invention of a solar LED light box came to overcome these problems. Solar light boxes enable users to place advertising on anyway where sunlight presence, without installing physical electric cable and paying monthly electricity bills.
1.3 AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The main aim of this work is to create an illuminating device uses innovative LED technology to provide bright, white illumination to a backlit graphic using solar energy as the source of power. The objectives are:
- To build a light box that is independent on the main supply
- To reduce monthly electricity bills
- To reduce the rate of electric shock that is caused by installing physical electric cable.
- SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT
The scope of this work covers building a lighting box which is powered with solar energy used for advertising purposes. The panel can be illuminated by LED lighting strips. The efficiency of light boxes improved dramatically after the introduction of LED technology. The user inserts a graphic, which can be changed easily.
The only limitation of this work is that during cloudy or raining season, charging of this device becomes a problem due to unavailability of sunshine.

1.6 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
LED light boxes are useful for drawing people’s attention to an advertisement or store promotion. The use of LED light boxes creates a clearer and more visually appealing advertisement display, both in-store and outside – which is the focus of the work. Working on this topic will serve as a way of enlighten us on how to use solar energy and its devices.
