Design And Construction Of Digital Door Alarm System

ABSTRACT

The project is on an automatic security door alarm system used in places like shopping malls, hotels and theatres. This project proposes a system of automatic security sensing any body movement object near the door. This is achieved with help of a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor. A live body generally emits infrared energy which is sensed by the PIR sensor from a considerable distance. This sensing signal is fed to an integrated circuit to trigger a buzzer.

When a body approaches within the operating range of the sensor, it sends a logical command through an alarm indicating that someone is approaching the door. If there is no further movement within the PIR operating range.

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

1.1                                           BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The need for having home protection has always been there. But in the recent times, considering a dramatic rise in petty crimes like robbery and theft, the need has been more strongly felt to have a fool proof protection of the belongings and the family members. Home security has come a long way in the last few decades. It was in the hands of a guard who manually provided surveillance during nights in the earlier days, but it was not fool proof as it was only normal for him to have momentary lapse of concentration.

The guard was also susceptible to sleep at times. It was then that home alarm system based upon electronic circuits were developed which proved to be highly reliable and were appreciated by the people as they were relieved from constant monitoring of their homes.

A house door alarm is a signaling device typically placed near an entry door to a building. This device is a motion based automatic door bell that rings a bell when a visitor approaches the sensor, alerting the occupant to the presence of the visitor.

A digital door alarm system is one of the home door alarm which is also called motion detector: The most common single-technology motion detecting sensor uses an ultrasonic sensor to detect movement of object, such as a person walking near the door. It is most effective in detecting when the heat mass moves across its field of vision.

Today we are adding one more Security Alarm in our list which is based on Ultrasonic Sensor and LCD which is the main aim of this work.

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

The need for having a constant home protection has always been there. This device brought solution to this need. It ensures adequate protection against intruders. This study also overcome the difficulty experienced by visitors in pressing a door alarm, in most especially when the visitor is disabled and could not have access to the location of the doorbell.

1.3                                    AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The main aim of this work is to design a device that will trigger a door alarm when sensing visitor’s body movement near the door. The objectives of the study are:

  1. To the build the system prototype
  2. To overcome the difficulty in pressing a door bell
  • To provide an adequate security in our homes

1.4                                                   SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of this study covers building an arduino based digital door alarm using ultrasonic sensor. This Arduino Controlled Door alarm can be installed near the door to detect the presence of anybody at the door. Whenever somebody comes in the range of Ultrasonic sensor, buzzer starts beeping. You can adjust the sensor detection range according to your door.

1.5                                           SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will serve as a means of providing adequate security in our homes and provide a good knowledge of how arduino can be interfaced with ultrasonic sensor.

1.6                                                        METHODOLOGY

To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:

  1. Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
  2. Draw a block diagram.
  • Test for continuity of components and devices,
  1. Design of the device was carried out.
  2. Studying of various component used in circuit.
  3. Construction of the circuit was carried out. The construction of this project includes the placing of components on Vero boards, soldering and connection of components,
  • Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.

PLAN OF THE STUDY

This project work is basically divided into five (5) chapters:

CHAPTER ONE: Takes on the introduction of the subject matter. If consists of the objectives, significance and problem statement of the study.

CHAPTER TWO: This is the literature review this entails the works that had been done on this particular topic which was done by other researchers.

CHAPTER THREE: Will talk about the Method that the researcher adopted in getting necessary materials or information that will facilitate the success of the research work.

CHAPTER FOUR: Explain how the researcher was able to analysis and present the data he got for his work in the chapter:

CHAPTER FIVE: Brings everything to conclusion the researcher does his summary and give necessary recommendation where needed.
