Design And Construction Of An Electronics Lab Trainers And Kits

ABSTRACT

This research work describes design and construction of an electronics lab trainer circuit prototyping system. The primary objective is to design an inexpensive, simple to use device that could be retained by students, so that they could undertake electronics experimentations.

This training device includes power supplies with LCD display, booster circuit, bulk circuit, diodes circuit, half and full wave rectification circuits. Through this training kit students will become more familiar with most popularly used electronics components, including electronics circuit and power supplies.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                          INTRODUCTION

1.1                                    BACKGROUND STUDY

A training device for instructing students in inverter circuits, which includes a large flat panel that is vertically disposed for visual display before the students, locations on the front surface of the panel for attachment of circuit devices, `a number of circuit having means for both mechanical and electrical connection to the panel, a power circuit associated with the panel for energizing the electronic devices, and circuit connections for making selected logical circuit interconnections between the devices displayed on the panel.

This invention relates to trainers and more particularly is concerned with a trainer capable of displaying devices operatively connected in a circuit configuration which precisely duplicates the schematic diagram of the circuit under consideration.

The primary objective is to design an inexpensive, simple to use device that could be used by students, so that they can undertake electronics experiment on how to connect and test electrical devices.

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

In many educational institutions, electronics are thought theoretically, even in some occasions when practical class are held, students are not giving access to see of touch electronics components. Electronics lab trainer and kits are of great importance in laboratory of any institution – it offer students a high level education regarding electronics circuits.  This is great essence in technology learning platform. This device creates an avenue where circuit board can be touched and the components. This device makes it easier for students to become exposed to basic electronic theories.

1.3                                    AIM OF THE PROJECT

The aim of this project is to construct an educational electronics lab Trainer Board.

1.4                            OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The objectives of this work are:

  1. To design and construct a trainer board for educational purpose.
  2. To build a device that composes of different electronics circuits

iii.          To mount several electronics components such as diode, LCD, plug, sockets, transformers, resistors, capacitors and other connectors

1.5                            LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

Though the power supply trainer can be used for operating of several dc devices, it can also be used for laboratory purposes and is therefore for internal use only. The selection of ac taps is done manually, that is, by connecting from one tap to another.

  • SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

Working on this project will provide a means of learning different electronics circuits with ease and also will serve as a means of making student to becoming familiar with different electronics circuits.

Materials and components for this project are affordable and readily available in electronics stores.

1.7                                                   SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of this work covers the building an electronics lab trainer circuit prototyping system. The devices composes of different electronics circuits such as power supplies with LCD display, booster circuit, bulk circuit, diodes circuit, half and full wave rectification circuits.

1.8                            LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

Many electronics circuits and connections were internally wired but external connection shall be made while in use.

Only one source of power supply were made to power all the electronics circuits involved in this kit.

1.9                                                        METHODOLOGY

To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:

  1. Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
  2. Draw a block diagram.
  • Test for continuity of components and devices,
  1. Design and calculation for the device was carried out.
  2. Studying of various component used in circuit.
  3. Construction of different electronics circuit was carried out.
  • Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.

1.10                                                      PROJECT ORGANISATION

The work is organized as follows: chapter one discuses the introductory part of the work,   chapter two presents the literature review of the study,  chapter three describes the methods applied, chapter four discusses the results of the work, chapter five summarizes the research outcomes and the recommendations
