Design And Construction Of A Mobile Phone Call Indicator

ABSTRACT

This work is titled design and construction of a Mobile phone call indicator. Mobile phone call indicator is a device that flashes an LED when it detects an incoming call.

Mobile phone call indicator can be used to escape from the nuisance of mobile phone rings when you are at home. This circuit will give a visual indication if placed near a mobile phone even if the ringer is deactivated. This circuit was designed to detect when a call is incoming in a cellular phone (even when the calling tone of the device is switched-off) by means of a flashing LED.

The device must be placed a few centimeters from the cellular phone, so its sensor coil L1 can detect the field emitted by the phone receiver during an incoming call.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

1.1                                           BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

This project is designed to help escape from nuisance of incoming call at home, offices and during conferences. The circuit is designed to give a visual indication if placed near a mobile phone even if the ringer is deactivated.

This circuit was designed to detect when a call is incoming in a cellular phone (even when the calling tone of the device is switched-off) by means of a flashing LED.

This handy, pocket-size mobile incoming call detector or sniffer can sense the presence of an activated mobile cell phone from a distance of one and-a-half meters. So it can be used to prevent use of mobile phones in examination halls, confidential rooms, etc. It is also useful for detecting the use of mobile phone for Spying and unauthorized video transmission. The circuit can detect the incoming and outgoing calls, SMS and video transmission even if the mobile phone is kept in the silent mode.

When a call is coming to the mobile phone, the transmitter inside it becomes activated. The frequency of the transmitter is around 900MHZ. The coil picks up these oscillations by induction and feds it to the base of the transistor. This make the transistor activated. Since the collector of transistor is connected to the pin 2 NE555, the IC1 is triggered to make the LED connected at its output pin to blink. The blinking of the LED is the indication of incoming call. The circuit must be powered by a 6V battery.

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

Phones ringing tone causes noise pollution and distraction most especially when it is used in an unwanted places such as conference hall, examination hall or any other public places where silence is needed. In order to solve this problem, this device is used. When using this device and a new call comes, this circuit will provide you an optical effect by flashing an LED. It can be useful in situations where you can’t keep your phone on ringing mode like while working in the office or at home when somebody is sleeping or even when you don’t wish to hear the tone and need some silence. This circuit can also be used in places where there is a lot of noise due to which you are not able to hear the ringtone of your cell phone

1.3                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of this project is to design a device that will detect when a call is incoming in a cellular phone

1.4                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

  1. Whenever you have a new call this project will provide you a visual warning.
  2.  This circuit is very useful at noisy places where it’s difficult to hear the ringtone.

3   When you are fed up of incoming calls and need silence but cannot ignore  ringtone, this circuit would be useful. You will get new call information by a blink of LED.

  1.  You need to put your mobile close to this project and LED will blink when you have a call. This project will detect the radiation coming out from your mobile.

1.5                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The system was built using a 555 timer IC, coil, pickup antenna and so many other electronics components. The most important part of the circuit is a 130-150 turn coil, which acts as a pick-up antenna for a signal that is emitted by your mobile phone whenever it has an incoming coil. The signal induced in this coil/inductor is amplified through a transistor, which is then used to drive a monostable 555 Timer. The output voltage of the IC is used to drive a ultra-bright LED.

1.6                                           LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

This project operates with battery, which means that the system will stop working whenever the battery runs down.

1.7                                          APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

This device was designed to be used in places where noise is highly prohibited such as:

  1. conferences hall
  2. exam hall
  • worship places
  1. banks, etc.

1.8                                         METHODOLOGY

To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:

  1. Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
  2. Draw a block diagram.
  • Test for continuity of components and devices,
  1. Design and calculation for the device was carried out.
  2. Studying of various component used in circuit.
  3. Construction of the circuit was carried out.
  • Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.

1.9                                                         PROJECT ORGANISATION

The work is organized as follows: chapter one discuses the introductory part of the work, chapter two presents the literature review of the study, chapter three describes the methods applied, chapter four discusses the results of the work, chapter five summarizes the research outcomes and the recommendations.
